The UK based technology company ‘Novalia’ develops technology and devices for projects and campaigns to integrate printed matters and electronics, enabling interactivity with both digital and print media.
1. Audi TT: Brochure Hack
Working with the creative team at Razorfish Germany for Audi, Novalia provided the interactivity for the world’s first interactive conductive print brochure. Audi’s sleek, new TT model features a “virtual cockpit,” a digital dashboard designed to enhance the driver’s experience.
2. DJ Qbert Interactive DJ Decks
Novalia worked with DJ Qbert to create the world’s first interactive DJ Decks in an album cover.
DJ QBert’s Kickstarter funded ‘Extraterrestria’ album features a set of working Bluetooth MIDI decks and controls that connect to iOs and Osx. Touching the paper connects to the ‘Algoriddim DJAY’ app, allowing the user to scratch, mix and fade any songs they load into the software. the decks demonstrate the possibilities for interconnectivity between the physical and digital in a way that can enhance user experience.
Novalia succeeds in introducing a technology (added to special printable surfaces which are wirelessly connected to apps or other devices) allowing interactive elements in printed matters. Thus, the way we experience simple, traditional media, is putto a new level by incorporating augmented reality moments.
